Non-profit flying club · Whiteman Airport (KWHP)

Fly a well-equipped IFR Cardinal for $128 an hour, wet.

Skycombers is a small, member-run flying club in the San Fernando Valley. No more than ten owner-pilots share one well-maintained, IFR-equipped Cessna 177B Cardinal, which means real availability, real savings over renting, and a group of people who actually know your name.

Why a club beats renting

Own the experience without owning the airplane.

Renting an IFR-equipped 180 HP airplane in Los Angeles typically means Hobbs billing, minimum daily hours on trips, scheduling fights, and a different airplane every time. A club flips all of that.

At Skycombers you fly the same airplane every time, you know its history because you and your fellow members maintain it, you book it online, and you take it to Catalina, Big Bear, or Monterey for the weekend with no daily minimums and no monthly minimums.

The airplane

1972 Cessna 177B Cardinal, N13HK

180 HP Lycoming, constant-speed propeller, and a modern IFR panel: Garmin GTN 650 with dual Garmin GI-275 displays. The Cardinal’s wide cabin, cantilever wing, and huge doors make it one of the most comfortable four-seat Cessnas ever built, and a great cross-country and IFR platform.

Cruise with room to spare

About 124 knots at 75 percent power on roughly 10 gph, with a cabin wider than a 172 and no wing strut in your photos.

Real IFR capability

WAAS GPS approaches on the GTN 650, dual GI-275 attitude and HSI, a GNC 255A second nav/com, and a GTX 345 ADS-B In/Out transponder.
