Give pilots an affordable way to fly a capable airplane on their own schedule, in the company of people who take flying seriously and know each other by name.
Skycombers has been flying out of Whiteman since 1950. Every member holds a share in the corporation and one vote. Dues, rates, and major decisions are set by the owners, the books are open, and the airplane is maintained by the people who fly it.
Whiteman Airport
Whiteman Airport (KWHP) is a towered general aviation field in Pacoima, at the north end of the San Fernando Valley, ten minutes from Burbank and a straight shot up the 405 or the 5 from the Westside and downtown.
It is a working pilots’ airport: a single runway, an active flight community, and quick access to the coast, the mountains, and the desert without the airline traffic of the bigger fields. Catalina is a half-hour flight, Big Bear and Santa Barbara about an hour.
Cessna 177B Cardinal, N13HK
180 HP Lycoming, constant-speed propeller, and a modern IFR panel built around a Garmin GTN 650 with dual GI-275 displays. The Cardinal’s wide cabin, cantilever wing, and huge doors make it one of the most comfortable four-seat Cessnas ever built, and a great cross-country and IFR platform.
How the club works
You are an owner
Members buy a share in Skycombers Flying Club, Inc., and can sell it to an approved incoming member when they leave. One share, one vote.
Book it, fly it
Online scheduling 24/7 through Schedule Master. Take the airplane to Catalina for lunch or up the coast for a week with no daily minimums.
Who can join
Private pilot certificate or higher with a current medical. Not a training club. Checkout with the Chief Pilot and a club-approved CFI.
